A routing and exception-handling platform that turned a spreadsheet operation into a product.
Portside moved 90,000 containers a year on spreadsheets and phone calls. Every exception was a person remembering something.
We built the planning surface first, then the model: a routing engine with human-in-the-loop overrides, plus an exception queue ranked by cost of delay.
Evaluation harnesses run on every deploy — 1,900 historical exceptions replayed against each model change before it ships.
Planners now save an average 7.4 hours a day, and the platform has held 99.95% uptime since launch.
